Dr. Katharina Kranzer


After receiving her doctoral degree in human medicine in Regensburg and Munich in 2003, Katharina Kranzer did her research concerning infection- and tropical medicine. She obtained her Master of Science and PhD degree at the renowned School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in London. Following her field of interest, she did her consultant in clinical microbiology and infection hygiene. During this time she was still working as a doctor in Malawi, London and South Africa. Since October 2015, Katharina Kranzer researches about tuberculosis at the Forschungszentrum Borstel (FZB). She is head of the workgroup Diagnostic Mycobacteriology, the National Reference Center (NRC) for Mycobacteria and Supranational Reference Laboratory (SRL) at FZB. Cooperating with the world health organisation (WHO) she helps to support the research in diagnosis, therapy and prevention of tuberculosis.
